Online Media

There are three main digital media services that Delaware Libraries provide to make online content available to library patrons. These services include Flipster, hoopla, and OverDrive. They contain a variety of books, magazines, movies, audiobooks, and other online materials to borrow. These are all accessible on a smartphone or tablet and some, like hoopla, even have the option of streaming to a TV.

Research and Learn

There are plenty of database resources available online for those looking to explore and discover. Library users have options ranging from science journals to genealogy records to resources specifically for teens.

Tracking Your Progress

Delaware Libraries have a specific LibGuide on Unleashing Your Inner Genius. This includes tips and tools on topics like journaling, curiosity, and book organization. It was created to encourage people to continuously explore new ideas and passions.

Tools include Beanstack and NoveList. Beanstack is an online reading journal that enables  readers to earn incentives while tracking their reading. NoveList makes title suggestions based on plot, similar books, and authors. It can also be used for someone to look at reviews and themed book lists.

Age-Appropriate Recommendations

Those who aren’t sure where to start can use the recommendations on the eMedia page (delawarelibraries.org/eMedia) that break down resources by age group. Links identify items that are ideal for those in preschool, children and family, teens, and adults. This makes it easy to sort through all of the information that is presented and helps patrons find materials that fit their interests and needs.

The Just for... section of the library website (delawarelibraries.org) includes information about programs that are beneficial to certain age groups. For example, they recommend Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for children from birth up to age 5, to receive one free book in the mail each month. The resources for children and families as well as teens include extensive links that relate to homework help and health as well as calendars of events that would capture their interest.
